Kelsey incorporates mindfulness into all of her treatment modalities. She also provides customized, individual meditation training sessions, as well as group classes and a Mindful Self-Compassion course.

Meditation helps us to understand our own mind. We can learn how to transform our mind from negative to positive, from disturbed to peaceful, from unhappy to happy. Overcoming negative minds and cultivating constructive thoughts is the purpose of the transforming meditations found in the Buddhist tradition. This is a profound spiritual practice you can enjoy throughout the day, not just while seated in meditation.

Studies show that meditating actually changes your brain, and with it, the way your body responds stress. Which works wonders on depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Specifically, it creates more activity in the portions dedicated to processing stress, focus, and calmness.

Kelsey is a Registered Yoga Instructor, and offers individual yoga therapy as a complement to her other mental health treatment options.

Sat Bir Khalsa, PhD is a neuroscientist and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School reports that yoga targets unmanaged stress, a main component of chronic disorders such as anxiety, depression, obesity, diabetes and insomnia. It does this by reducing the stress response, which includes the activity of the sympathetic nervous system and the levels of the stress hormone cortisol. The practice enhances resilience and improves mind-body awareness, which can help people adjust their behaviors based on the feelings they're experiencing in their bodies.
